The Meadowlark String Quartet was founded as the resident quartet of the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra in the spring of 2014. The quartet is composed of Bacco Liu, violin I, Cindy Min, Violin II, Emily Hagen, Viola, and Lindsay Schlemmer, Violoncello. The quartet is unique, as they not only perform chamber music, but also teach through classroom concerts and a summer chamber music festival for young string players. The Meadowlarks are Artist Performers for Thursday Musical, and performed at Antonello Hall in Minneapolis. They are also teaching artists for the Music in Our Schools program. The quartet has an Artistic Partnership with St. Mary’s University in Winona where they perform chamber concerts, and collaborate with the choirs and orchestra.
In a recent review from the Winona Daily News, “the Meadowlark Quartet’s outstanding world-class performance had the small audience on the edge of our seats!”
The Meadowlarks create a musical bridge with their work throughout Minnesota. For five summers, the Meadowlark Quartet has been faculty of Southwest Minnesota String Festival. They facilitated chamber coachings, private lessons, and musicianship classes. The festival culminated with a chamber music concert showcasing the hard work and accomplishments of all of the student trios and quartets for families, and the community. Next summer will begin the Meadowlark Chamber Music Festival at St. Mary’s University in Winona.
